Scanner

Risk visibility and early-warning system for publicly exposed websites. This scanner analyses publicly observable signals to highlight security, trust, and hygiene risks. Exposure Watch extends this by monitoring for meaningful changes over time.

Notice: Use only on domains you own or are authorised to assess. The website shell never provides scan, report, or export actions in the top menu.

Grants

Most grant applications fail not because the applicant is ineligible, but because they cannot clearly demonstrate need, risk, and readiness.

Grant info (not advice)

Some businesses may be eligible for government grants or assistance programs depending on their location, industry, size, and timing.

Grant availability, eligibility criteria, and funding priorities change frequently. There is no single program that applies to all businesses, and funding is never guaranteed.

The links below direct you to official government sources where you can check what is currently available and determine eligibility yourself.

Urban Sentinel does not provide grant advice, assess eligibility, or submit applications on behalf of businesses.

What assessors look for

Grant assessors typically require applicants to clearly demonstrate business need, operational risk, and readiness to act.

Applications that rely on generic statements or unsupported claims are unlikely to succeed.

FAQ - Urban Sentinel Surface Website Scanner

Important Notice: This FAQ is provided for informational purposes only and does not constitute legal, regulatory, or compliance advice.

Q1. What is the Urban Sentinel Surface Website Scanner?
The Urban Sentinel Surface Website Scanner is an AI-assisted, surface-level website analysis tool designed to observe and interpret publicly accessible, non-intrusive signals from a website. The scanner is intended to guide and inform website owners, operators, and authorised parties about observable indicators that may warrant further review. The scanner analyses only information that is publicly available at the time of scanning and does not interfere with website operation.

Q2. What does “surface-level” scanning mean?
Surface-level scanning means the scanner observes externally visible website characteristics only. It does not: access restricted systems, bypass authentication, submit forms, modify content, or attempt intrusion or circumvention. All observations are made passively and lawfully.

Q3. What is this scanner NOT?
This scanner is not: penetration testing, vulnerability exploitation, security certification, compliance certification, legal advice, or a guarantee of security, compliance, or funding eligibility. Scan results are informational only and must not be interpreted as definitive proof of compliance or non-compliance.

Q4. How does the scanner operate at a high level?
The scanner analyses publicly observable website behaviour, which may include: protocol behaviour, configuration indicators, response characteristics, and structural or compatibility signals. The scanner does not authenticate as a user, inject traffic beyond standard observation, or alter any system state.

Q5. Who is authorised to use this scanner?
This scanner is intended for use by website owners, website operators, authorised representatives, and parties with lawful authority to assess the target website. Users are responsible for ensuring they have appropriate authority to scan a website. Urban Sentinel does not accept responsibility for scans conducted without proper consent or legal standing.

Q6. How is artificial intelligence used in the scanner?
Artificial intelligence is used to assist in interpreting observable signals and patterns. AI output does not fabricate findings, does not access hidden systems, and does not replace professional judgment. Results may be indicative or probabilistic, and further technical, legal, or human review may be required depending on context.

Q7. Does the scanner guarantee compliance, security, or grant eligibility?
No. Urban Sentinel does not guarantee compliance, does not guarantee security outcomes, and does not guarantee grant eligibility or approval. Any reference to grants or government programs is informational only and intended to help clients understand possible alignment or next steps. We guide. We do not guarantee.

Q8. Can Urban Sentinel apply for grants or funding on my behalf?
No. Urban Sentinel does not apply for grants on behalf of clients, does not submit applications, and does not make representations to government bodies. Where scan results indicate potential relevance to accessibility or regulatory considerations, the scanner may provide explanatory guidance text, copy-paste-ready wording, and links to relevant resources. This information is provided solely to assist clients in preparing their own applications or responses. Final decisions rest entirely with the relevant authority.

Q9. Are scan results permanent or ongoing?
No. Scan results reflect observable conditions at the time the scan is performed. Changes to the website after the scan may materially alter results. The scanner does not provide continuous monitoring unless explicitly agreed otherwise.

Q10. Am I required to use Urban Sentinel services to remediate issues?
No. Clients are not required to engage Urban Sentinel, implement changes through Urban Sentinel, or purchase any services. Use of Urban Sentinel services is optional and is not a condition of any grant, funding outcome, or regulatory decision.

Q11. Who is responsible for remediation and implementation?
Responsibility for remediation, compliance actions, and implementation decisions rests entirely with the website owner or operator. Urban Sentinel provides guidance and analysis, not enforcement or certification.

Q12. Does the scanner access or store personal data?
No. Urban Sentinel commits to lawful operation, ethical use of technology, non-intrusive analysis, no access to personal data, and no retention of scanned content beyond operational necessity. This FAQ is provided for informational and disclosure purposes only and does not constitute legal advice.

Q13. Can my business claim website security and redesign costs as tax deductible?
In Australia, costs of running and maintaining a business website (for example hosting, domain renewals, routine maintenance, and many security subscriptions) are generally claimable as business deductions when incurred. Costs to acquire or develop a new website, or do a significant rebuild/redesign, are often treated as capital and are typically claimed over time rather than as a single immediate deduction. The right treatment depends on your circumstances (and whether costs are “running” vs “capital”), so confirm with your accountant before lodging. To claim in a given income year, the expense generally needs to be incurred (and for many businesses on a cash basis, paid) by 30 June.

Urban Sentinel Pty Ltd ("Urban Sentinel", "we", "us") provides an AI-assisted, surface-level website analysis service designed to observe publicly accessible, non-intrusive signals from websites. We aim to collect the minimum information necessary to operate the service securely and reliably.

What we collect
Depending on how you use the service, we may collect: (a) service and technical data such as IP address, user agent/device/browser details, timestamps, diagnostic logs, and security events (for example rate limiting or abuse detection); (b) scan inputs and outputs such as the domain/URL you submit, scan metadata (scan ID, time), and results derived from publicly observable signals; and (c) contact data (name/email and message content) if you contact us.

How we use information
We use information to run and display scans and reports, protect the service and prevent abuse, improve reliability, respond to support requests, and comply with legal obligations.

What we do not do
We do not request passwords for standard scans, we do not attempt to bypass authentication or access restricted systems as part of standard operation, and we do not sell personal information.

Sharing and service providers
We may use trusted providers for hosting, security, monitoring, analytics, and content delivery. These providers may process technical data (like IP addresses) as part of normal service operation. We may also disclose information where required or authorised by law.

Overseas processing
Some providers may store or process data outside Australia due to global infrastructure. We take reasonable steps to ensure appropriate protections are in place.

Retention and security
We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above (including security and abuse prevention), then delete or de-identify it where reasonable. We take reasonable steps to protect information from misuse, interference and loss, and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

Your choices, access and complaints
To request access/correction or to make a privacy complaint, contact info@urbansentinel.com.au. We aim to respond within 30 days.

If our practices change, this policy will be updated with a new version and date.

Urban Sentinel provides informational content and may provide access to tools and overlays for surface-level security observation.

1) Authorisation required
You must only use scanning features on domains you own, operate, or have explicit permission to assess. You are responsible for ensuring you have lawful authority before scanning any target website.

2) Acceptable use
You agree not to use the service to attempt authentication bypass, credential testing, brute force, or exploitation; submit forms to target websites in a way intended to interfere with operation; run high-volume automation designed to degrade performance or availability; or scan non-public systems outside the normal public surface of the submitted domain.

3) Non-intrusive scope
Standard scans are designed to observe publicly accessible signals and provide risk indicators and recommendations. Results reflect conditions at the time of scanning and are informational only.

4) No warranties / no certification
We do not provide legal advice, compliance certification, security certification, or guarantees of outcomes (including funding eligibility). No scan can prove a website is fully secure or compliant.

5) Abuse prevention and verification
We may rate-limit, block, or restrict usage to protect the service and prevent abuse. We may request proof of control (DNS/HTTP token) where abuse is suspected or to enable future features such as shareable reports or higher limits.

6) Changes
We may update these Terms and related policies. Updated versions will be published with a new version number and date.
